Michael Gurgen APRN dermatology provider in The Villages FL

Michael Gurgen

APRN

Michael Gurgen is a Board-Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) who has received extensive training in dermatology and skin care under the direct mentorship of Dr. Johnny Gurgen. He is committed to providing the same patient-focused approach and high standard of care that patients have come to expect throughout the practice.

Michael earned his first bachelor’s degree in Psychology from William Paterson University in New Jersey. He later pursued a career in nursing, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduating Magna Cum Laude, reflecting his outstanding academic achievement. Continuing his advanced education, Michael obtained a Master of Science in Nursing from South University, where he completed his Adult Nurse Practitioner training and again graduated with top honors.

Dedicated to professional excellence, Michael is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in recognition of his academic accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to integrity within the nursing profession.

Known for his compassionate nature and dedication to patient care, Michael strives to help every patient feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their treatment plan. Outside of the office, he enjoys traveling, participating in outdoor activities, and spending quality time with family and friends.

John E. Kelly is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant who has received specialized training in dermatology and skin care under the guidance of Dr. Johnny Gurgen. He is dedicated to delivering the same patient-centered care, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence that have become hallmarks of the practice.

A lifelong resident of Citrus County, John attended Citrus High School before beginning his healthcare career. He continued his education at the College of Central Florida, where he earned his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). John spent ten years working in emergency medical services, gaining valuable hands-on experience caring for patients in a wide variety of medical situations.

Committed to furthering his education, John attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with Honors and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then spent twelve years as a high school Chemistry teacher at Crystal River High School. During that time, he also coached football and served as the team’s medic, combining his passion for education, athletics, and healthcare.

Driven by his desire to expand his role in patient care, John pursued advanced medical training at Nova Southeastern University in Orlando, where he earned his Master of Medical Science degree as a Physician Assistant.

Today, John resides in Inverness with his wife and their Labrador retriever. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as pursuing his favorite hobbies, which include hunting, fishing, and football. He and his wife have proudly supported the University of Florida as Gator Boosters since 2002 and enjoy attending Gator football games each fall.

Jeren Kowalewski is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant who has received specialized training in dermatology and skin care under the mentorship of Dr. Johnny Gurgen. He is committed to delivering the same patient-focused philosophy and high standard of care that patients throughout the practice have come to expect.

Born and raised in Bradenton, Florida, Jeren attended Lakewood Ranch High School before continuing his education at Florida State University. While at FSU, he was a student-athlete and played wide receiver on the university’s 2013 National Championship football team. During his time there, he also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Sciences.

Following graduation and the completion of his football career, Jeren developed a strong interest in dermatology and began working as a medical assistant at Dermatology Associates of Tallahassee. This experience solidified his passion for helping patients and inspired him to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant.

Jeren continued his medical education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Myers, Florida, where he earned his Master of Medical Science degree as a Physician Assistant with honors. He remains actively involved in the profession as a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Jeren currently resides in Winter Garden with his wife and their golden retriever. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family, golfing with friends, and attending football games. He and his wife are dedicated Florida State Seminoles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans and enjoy supporting their teams as season ticket holders.

Leonard “Jack” Stewart is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant who has received specialized training in dermatology and skin care under the mentorship of Dr. Johnny Gurgen. He is dedicated to delivering the same patient-focused philosophy and high standard of care that patients throughout the practice have come to expect.

Jack earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. During his undergraduate studies, he also obtained his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, which allowed him to gain valuable hands-on patient care experience while serving as a first responder for more than two years.

Motivated to further his medical education and expand his role in patient care, Jack attended South University’s Physician Assistant Program in Tampa, where he earned his Master’s degree and graduated at the top of his class with high honors.

Following graduation, Jack practiced as a Physician Assistant in an urgent care setting throughout the Tampa Bay area, where he treated a wide variety of medical conditions and gained extensive clinical experience. His passion for helping patients and interest in skin health ultimately led him to specialize in dermatology.

Compassionate, Patient-Centered Care

Jack believes that exceptional dermatologic care begins with listening to patients, understanding their concerns, and developing personalized treatment plans that support both healthy skin and overall well-being. He is committed to helping patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident throughout their care experience.

Outside of the office, Jack enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, and spending time with family, friends, and his dog. His love of the outdoors and active lifestyle reflects the same enthusiasm and dedication he brings to caring for his patients every day.

Many patients appreciate having the option to see a female dermatology provider, particularly for annual skin examinations, skin cancer screenings, and other sensitive skin health concerns. Dr. Gurgen Dermatology is proud to offer that option through Stephany Leclair, APRN.

Stephany Leclair is a Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who has received specialized training in dermatology and skin care under the guidance of Dr. Johnny Gurgen. She shares the same patient-centered philosophy and commitment to compassionate, individualized care that have become the foundation of the practice.

Stephany earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from King University in Bristol, Tennessee. Throughout her nursing career, she gained valuable clinical experience in dermatology, oncology, and hospice care, developing a strong appreciation for both medical excellence and compassionate patient support.

After several years working as a dermatology nurse, Stephany further advanced her education by earning a Master of Science in Nursing from The George Washington University, graduating at the top of her class.

Outside of the office, Stephany enjoys spending time with her family and beloved pets. Her favorite activities include boating, fishing, relaxing by the pool, snow skiing, and enjoying a great movie whenever she has the opportunity.
